LaToya Reed

Mrs. Reed earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Shaw University in 1999 and later obtained her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from North Carolina Central University in 2011. She began her teaching career with the Wake County Public School System in 1999, launching a distinguished career dedicated to literacy, leadership, and service.

Throughout her tenure in education, Mrs. Reed has served as a Classroom Teacher, Instructional Facilitator, Intervention Facilitator, and Mentor. She has also held various school-based leadership positions, consistently stepping forward to guide initiatives, support colleagues, and strengthen instructional practices. Her expertise in literacy development led her to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction’s Office of Early Learning, where she served as an Early Literacy Specialist, helping schools implement evidence-based strategies to improve reading outcomes for young learners across the state. She currently serves as a Coordinating Teacher, focusing on English Language Arts instruction and professional development, continuing her mission of empowering both students and educators.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mrs. Reed is deeply committed to faith and service. She is a member of Watts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where she serves as an Awana Teacher, investing in the spiritual growth and character development of young people. As a dedicated member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, she actively works with the Delta GEMS program, which aims to develop strong, confident, and respectful young ladies by preparing them to take active roles in their personal success and in society at large.

LaToya Reed is a passionate and accomplished educational leader whose career has been defined by her unwavering commitment to student achievement, instructional excellence, and the holistic development of young people. A native of Portsmouth, Virginia, she is a proud graduate of Portsmouth Public Schools, Class of 1995.
